Historically, Eucalyptus citriodora Essential Oil has been valued for its properties such as: Antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, fungicidal, hypotensive, and mosquito repellent.
The Eucalyptus Citriodora, also commonly known under the name of lemon eucalyptus or aromatic eucalyptus, belongs to the Myrtaceae family.
It is an evergreen tree and can measure up to 30m in height, the leaves have a light green hanging arrangement, and it is the part that gives off the aroma, a fragrance reminiscent of the smell of lemon, or citronella.
Traditionally it has been used to perfume clothes closets by putting a few dry leaves in a cloth bag, and since the last century it has also been used as an insect repellent.
The essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves.
