Benzoin is native to Southeast Asia but has been well known in the Arabian Peninsula for a long time. In Egypt it became a currency of exchange. It was used to disinfect, heal and in religious rituals. Dioscorides described it in his dictionary for its therapeutic properties and benefits for the respiratory system and for healing. Its aroma comforts, provides a feeling of security, well-being and warmth.
